There is no doubt about it, Michael and I are ecstatic to move into our new house this weekend. More room, a backyard and the ability to paint and decorate however I want! It truly is a dream come true.
However, with a new beginning comes an end, and every time I think about moving I get a little ache in my heart.
I became a mother here. We have meet some fabulous people and made life long friends. No matter how much I have complained about this space (or the lack thereof) I will always hold fond memories for #12 in my heart.
The idea that breaks my heart the most is that we are leaving all of Eli's dearest friends. He has grown up with these friends. They have known each other for their whole lives! I know he will make new friends and love them just as much. I just wish we could stay by these good friends forever. I will always be so grateful that they were around for these first few years.
We will also always have a soft spot in our hearts for "Sister" Dewey. He was called to serve in our ward's nursery (the class that all children from 18 months - 3 years go to every Sunday). I really feel as though he was called to serve in the nursery just for Eli. Elijah LOVES him!
Not pictured above are the parents of all those little kiddos up there. (And a few more) I am so grateful that there have been so many new moms to talk to over the past few years. Moms who also have babies waking them up in the middle of the night and toddlers that don't want to sleep. Moms that I can vent to and get ideas from. I will never forget the walks we took and laughs we shared.
I'm so grateful that we were led to this little two bedroom condo and all of the wonderful people that have influenced our lives for good.
I often miss that place! I miss walking out the door and being right there next to friends right at the same stage in life, rooting each other on. Miss you guys. I'm so excited for you guys and know you will meet and make many more great friends because you're pretty awesome yourself! I'm grateful for blogs and internet social networks to keep us in touch. Good luck with the move!!
ReplyDeleteI had the hardest time moving a few months ago and leaving all of Lyla's friends! It's sad to see them miss their friends and not really understand what it means to move. Luckily she's making friends fast- and I'm sure Eli will be the same. Good luck with all of the changes! Can't wait to see pictures of your house!
